Evidence-based strategies to help you manage your mental health concerns.
Accepting clients in MA, FL, and NY
Whether you realize it or not, you are navigating a world that was not built with you in mind. Most of us possess some aspect of our identity that is not fully embraced or may even be invalidated by the world. This may be something related to our race, sexual orientation, mood state, religion, occupation, parenthood status, etc. or any intersections therein. Left unchecked, invalidation from the world can turn into negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and unhelpful behaviors that negatively impact our personal and professional lives.
What the world doesn't teach us is that these identities are also a strength and, fortunately, there are evidence-based strategies to help us harness these strengths. As a clinical psychologist, I am trained in empirically-supported techniques (i.e., techniques that research tells us are effective), which can help to manage these concerns. I most often use a combination of strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) uniquely tailored for each client. These techniques are transdiagnostic, meaning they are applicable to a wide variety of conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD, coping with chronic illness, and general life improvement. I provide a challenging and supportive environment to help you to find joy in a world not built for you.
Video Therapy and Coaching
I offer evidence-based psychotherapy via secure telehealth platform. I primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral (CBT) techniques; however, in recognition of some of the limitations of these techniques, I integrate other techniques (e.g., DBT, ACT, and mindfulness techniques).
Video therapy has been shown to work as well as in person therapy. I find that video therapy not only facilitates regular attendance, but also allows clients to participate in therapy in the real world rather than a therapy office.
I specialize in behavioral medicine, which involves treating clients with co-occurring mental health and physical health concerns. Therefore, as opposed to specializing in one particular diagnosis, I use transdiagnostic strategies shown to work across multiple types of disorders.
